The Barman, 1961
David Azuz was born in Tel Aviv in 1942 and has lived in Paris since 1958. Every summer he returns to Tel Aviv. Azuz worked at Josef Schwartzmann’s studio between 1951-55, then studied at the Avni Institute in Telv Aviv until 1958, and at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and La Grand Chaumiere in Paris 1958-63. Azuz’s rich colourful paintings often show bistros and markets around Europe, exploring the solitude of the individual within a busy location.
