Painter and etcher Mordechai Moreh was born in Baghdad, Iraq on 15 November 1937 and immigrated to Israel with his family at the age of fourteen. At the age of eighteen, he entered the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem on a scholarship, followed by a further scholarship, in 1960, from the Italian government to study at the Accademia de Belle Arti in Florence, and another, in 1962, from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation to study at the Ecole Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He specialises in etching and has held solo exhibitions in Vienna, Amsterdam, New York and Israel, as well as participating in biennales in Europe, the USA and Israel. His work is in public collections including the Art Institute of Chicago and the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC, USA. He lives and works in Israel.
