David Breuer-Weil was born into a Jewish family in London in 1965. His father was born in Vienna in 1938 and, as a small child, fled Nazi-occupied Vienna with his parents after the Anschluss (annexation of Austria); his mother was from Denmark. He studied at Central St Martin's School of Art in 1985, where he was taught by Shelley Faussett, one of Henry's Moore's assistants; he later studied at Clare College, Cambridge, before working in a series of different departments and disciplines at Sotheby's, combining this with his own artistic practice. His Project series of paintings has been shown at the Roundhouse, Camden, where he was hailed by critic John Russell Taylor as a 'colossal talent', and at the Bargehouse in the Oxo Tower. Project 3 was shown in a 3-storey car park in Covent Garden in 2007. He held a joint show with Chris Ofili at the London Jewish Museum and has exhibited in a number of mixed shows at Ben Uri Gallery. He lives and works in London.
