Sculptor Hazel Hanna Alexander was born into a Jewish family in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1912 and lived and worked in London throughout her career. She studied briefly in her youth, then later, as a mature student at the Camden Art Institute, London. Most of her sculptures are related to Judaism and Hassidism and have been exhibited at the Ben Uri Art Society and galleries in London and Israel. She died in London in 1999. Her daughter is the artist Naomi Alexander.
